Master Bath Retile with Large-Format Porcelain in Arvada
About This Project
This full master bathroom retile in an Arvada home involved removing the original builder-grade ceramic and replacing it with large-format beige porcelain on both the floor and walls. The floor tiles run at 24x24 inches, which required the concrete slab to be assessed and spot-leveled with self-leveling compound before any tile was set. Wall tiles were set in a stacked horizontal pattern from floor to ceiling, with the layout centered on the freestanding tub wall as the visual focal point. Grout joints were kept tight at 1/8 inch throughout to emphasize the slab-look quality of the material.
What We Did
- Removed existing tile and assessed the concrete slab for flatness
- Applied self-leveling compound to bring the floor within TCNA tolerances
- Set floor tile using medium-bed mortar with back-buttering and lippage clips
- Installed wall tile in stacked pattern, centered on freestanding tub wall
