Dark Gray Marble-Look Floor in a Westminster Modern Home
About This Project
This Westminster home used a high-gloss dark gray marble-look porcelain as the main floor tile for the living area. High-gloss polished porcelain shows every variation in the setting bed, so the substrate work on this project was particularly thorough: the slab was checked and leveled to within 1/16 inch over 10 feet before tile was set. The large-format tiles were back-buttered and set with lippage control clips to ensure the polished surfaces read as a single continuous plane. The tight joints at 1/16 inch were filled with a dark matching grout that disappears into the overall floor surface.
