Gray Stone-Look Kitchen Floor in Westminster
About This Project
This large Westminster kitchen used a multi-size gray stone-look porcelain layout, mixing 24x24 and 12x24 tiles in a staggered pattern that gives the floor more visual movement than a single-size grid. The kitchen island required careful planning so the tile layout remained consistent on both sides of it without creating awkward cuts at the base. The stone-look surface has a slightly textured finish that provides good traction in a kitchen environment. Grout color was selected to be close to the tile tone so the joints read as texture rather than a visible grid.
What We Did
- Planned multi-size layout to minimize cuts at island base and perimeter cabinets
- Leveled slab and set tile with medium-bed mortar and full back-buttering
- Maintained consistent joint width across both tile sizes
- Grouted with tone-matched sanded grout; cleaned and protected surface
