Patterned Shower Enclosure in Wheat Ridge
About This Project
This shower enclosure in a Wheat Ridge bathroom used large-format beige tile with an embossed patchwork pattern that gives the surface visual texture without adding color complexity. The matte black ceiling-mount rain head and hand shower were pre-installed by the plumber; we coordinated the tile layout so the ceiling penetration for the rain head landed centered on a full tile rather than on a cut. The shower floor used a mosaic insert with a small pattern that complemented the wall tile while providing the slip resistance a shower floor requires. Full waterproofing membrane was applied before any tile was set.
What We Did
- Installed cement backer board and applied waterproofing membrane to all wet surfaces
- Planned layout to center rain head penetration on a full tile
- Set large-format patterned wall tile with consistent joint spacing
- Set mosaic shower floor with proper slope to drain; grouted entire enclosure
